I’m excited to share my latest food photography project for the Westin Grand Cayman Resort and Spa, a beloved destination for both locals and visitors. Like many other properties in the Cayman Islands, the Westin had temporarily closed for overnight guests during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, its beach facilities and dining options remained open, allowing locals to continue enjoying the resort’s amenities and cuisine.
Now, with the Cayman Islands’ borders still officially closed, the Westin has reopened its rooms to local residents through staycation packages. During this downtime, the resort took the opportunity to renovate some of its facilities, including the creation of a brand-new restaurant: WOTO – Sushi, Ceviche, and Poke.
WOTO: A Culinary Delight
As part of the Westin’s exciting updates, WOTO is a fresh addition to the resort, offering a delicious menu of sushi, ceviche, and poke. Having previously worked on food photography for the Westin, I was thrilled when their marketing manager, Lucy, reached out to capture the stunning dishes for their promotional materials.
From classic Edamame and Sashimi to beautifully presented Ceviche, the dishes at WOTO are a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The chefs’ artistry shines through in every plate, requiring no elaborate props—just simple, elegant settings that let the food take center stage. The vibrant colors and textures of the dishes made this Grand Cayman food photography session an absolute joy to shoot.
And of course, one of the best perks of the job is sampling the creations! I can confidently say that these dishes don’t just look incredible—they taste amazing too.
